The Topic is: Virtual Private Networks (using the woefully outdated
VPND software)
The next meeting is Monday 10/11/2004 at 7pm in Morse Hall room 301.
This months topic will be presented by Tucker Hurton, and covers using
VPND to configure Virtual Private Networks across firewalls. One use
for VPND would be to allow access between secure home and work
networks, from either side. This one can either let you do more work
on your own time, or looked at another way, allow you to use all those
great work resources for your own projects! Another great use,
covered in the talk, is using VPND to keep open links to high
maintenance customers (read as "Mom & Pop") to remotely solve a larger
subset of computer related problems. Very handy if Mom & Pop live a
few hours drive away, and need a lot of hand holding to use their
computer.
