7:15 Introductory remarks
7:20 OpenAFS - a distributed filesystem
presented by Jeff Woodward
OpenAFS is a distributed filesystem product, pioneered at
Carnegie Mellon University and supported and developed as
a product by Transarc Corporation (now IBM Pittsburgh Labs).
It offers a client-server architecture for file sharing,
providing location independence, scalability and transparent
migration capabilities for data.
IBM branched the source of the AFS product, and made a copy
of the source available for community development and
maintenance. They called the release OpenAFS.
8:50 Roundtable Exchange - where the attendees can make
announcements or ask a linux question.
Please see the website for links to directions.
If any area companies are interested in sponsoring refreshments, please
let me know.
Please RSVP so we can give a refreshment sponsor a headcount.
