Or, you could instead use the, um, "other" dict:

moon at server:~$ which dict
/usr/bin/dict
moon at server:~$ file `which dict`
/usr/bin/dict: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV),
dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped
moon at server:~$ dict ambrose
1 definition found
