replacement for netscrape mail

I've very recently started using Beonex
(http://www.beonex.com/communicator/)

It has Windows and Linux versions. Based on Mozilla 1.0.1 it looks very
much like Netscape 7,
but the performance is much better. It happily imported my Netscape 4
profiles. I had to export
and import my Netscape address book, but that was all.

I use IMAP and have a few GB of email there. (I strongly recommend IMAP
over POP for what you're doing.)

For the lone POP account I still have to use, it imported the mbox files
without a problem. It generated its own index files from those.

At this point (after only a week), I'm happy with it. It appears to be
what Netscape 6/7 ought to have been.
I haven't bumped into any limitations yet. The Linux and Windows
versions appear to use identical data formats.
Of course, since most everything I do is IMAP, that's not really
relevant, except for the address book & bookmarks.

Good luck.
