In my experience, it hasn't gotten any better. Now and then I'll try
an upgrade that ought to be easy, such as RHL 7.2 -> 7.3. I'm
constantly amazed at the subtle ways the installer finds to screw up.
I tried a fresh RHL 8.0 install on my laptop. Everything worked fine
except that my Cisco Aironet 340 Wi-Fi card wouldn't associate with
the access point. No amount of fiddling with various versions of the
driver helped. I suspect that the problem had something to do with
changes in the networking startup sequence, such that the card didn't
have enough initialization time, but judicious use of 'sleep' didn't
help either, and I eventually went back to 7.3.
