RH 6.2 - X Problems

Hi,

I've only been running linux for a couple months now, but as of this
morning when I try to boot to linux, X doesn't start correctly (the screen
goes blank).

I have a dual boot of RH 6.2 / win98, and win98 works like normal so I
ruled out hardware/connection problems. When I start red hat, it goes
through the normal boot procedure, giving everything OK's and [displaying
everything on screen like normal]. Then it when the GUI login screen
should pop up, i just get a black screen that kinda refreshes every couple
seconds or so. Ctrl-[1-8] or Alt-[1-8] or Ctrl-Alt-[1-8], don't bring up
a text window like they should. If I press them though and then press
Ctrl-Alt-Del, redhat begins its reboot procedure and lists everything as
being okay except Shutting Down X Font Server, which it lists as failed.
I tried looking through the support at redhat.com for 6.2 but the only
thing I saw similar was to press Ctrl-alt-Backspace and that didn't do
anything. I've tried going into interactive mode and not starting the X
Font Server, but the same problem occurred.

Any suggestions to fix this or good places to look for info? (Having to
rely on windows is really starting to get annoying.)
