I installed RH9 last night (before midnight, so no Apr. 1 jokes here).
A few random comments from ~20 minutes of playing:
LVM rocks
Sendmail configured by default to reject incoming connections. It will
still send, but you have to poke a hole in the iptables *and* explicitly
tell sendmail to accept connections for this to work.
The release notes say that NVIDIA-supplied drivers do not work with RH 9.
Not quite correct. NVIDIA released their drivers yesterday that
does work. In a (big) change, NVIDIA is no longer releasing their drivers
as RPMS (or .src.rpms), but as an executable that will figure out what
you have and get the proper drivers. You can still compile your own,
but this will probably break RPM usage.
The release notes say that ATI-supplied drivers will not work either.
Not sure if ATI has released new drivers or not.
There may be other modules that will break as a result of the new thread
libraries. But that's why they went to 9.0
It's bluecurve. Not much more to say about that
CUPS is the default print server
apt-get has been ported, but not all of the freshrpm packages work
correctly yet (some require Xfree86 - note the lowercase f).
