I was using a Belkin 2-port KVM to switch between windows and Linux
(until I got off the windows box) and never had this sort of problem. I
also have a few 8-port KVM's in our data centers that have Linux and
windows machines intermixed and it works well.
When I *have* had odd KVM-type problems it was more often than not a
hardware/system board issue where the board would seem to get flaky
during the switch process.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that it might be worthwhile to try
different hardware if the problem persists.
