  Yah.  It is one thing to drop ICMP echo requests due to a widespread flood
from Welchia/Nachi.  It is quite another to drop all ICMP.

  There has been a big bitchfest on NANOG for the past ten days or so about
filtering, when it is appropriate, when it is not, and when it is just plain
dumb.  Alas, things are not as simple as we would like to think.  But then,
they rarely are.  :-(
