Win4lin Performance (was: another windoze emulator)

The performance is good.  Games, however, are another ball o' wax. 
Windows uses DirectX (?) to do funky stuff with writing directly to video
memory and the like -- this is pretty un-portable.  I know that there are
parties trying to make it work, but I have no idea where they are in the
process.     In a nutshell: if your games require DirectX, don't even
bother.  (Note: last time I used Win4Lin was 3.x; for all I know 4.x has
remedied this.)
