Having worked for a (now failed) blade company, I can give the following:

Pros:  Compact, low power usage, easier configuration, fewer moving parts
Cons:  Uses laptop CPUs or slower CPUs, custom hardware means you have to
use that vendor (even cPCI is somewhat custom), custom hw = high cost

Depending on the number of servers you need, you may just want to look
at getting a boatload of dual-CPU 1U boxes and be done with it.
