My personal preference is anything PalmOS based. It's simple, well
supported, and has all the features you requested.
I have yet to see why anyone would *need* one of these Linux based
PDAs. They seem like total overkill, and they're expensive.
Palm is like that little notebook you want to carry around in your
back pocket. It gets filled with important information that you like
to have on you all the time, but is also on your computer or located
elsewhere when you're home. Basically, it's a little notebook you
write things until you get home and can put the information where it
really belongs.
These other Pocket PCs, Linux PDAs, etc. are really nothing more than
miniature laptops. They are full computing environments in and of
themselves. So, you then end up with "Yet Another Computer" to care
and manage.
They also suck down batteries compared to a Palm. I can go 2-3 weeks
on batteries in my Visor, a little less if I use the rechargeable
Alkalines (haven't tried the rechargeable NimH yet).

It may look like I'm just sitting here doing nothing,
but I'm really actively waiting for all my problems to go away.
If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!
