Red Hat Linux -> NetBSD porting

Hi,
  I'm trying to do some porting from Red Hat Linux 9 to NetBSD 1.6.1 and
have bumped into something that's hard to do a google for.  Basically,
it looks as if the 'error' function that exists in glibc does not exist
in NetBSD's libc.
  Ideally, I'd love to find some Linux compatibility libraries and
headers, similar in concept to AIX 5L's Linux source compatibility so
that I can just build Linux oriented source out of the box (or with
minor patches) on NetBSD.  However, I'm open to suggestions.
  Looking for some suggestions in general, really, on a recommended
approach for missing or incompatible functionality on NetBSD.
  Any ideas?
