The RPM thingy provides you with information relative to the rpm 
kernel package currently installed on the system.

Obviously, if you're using a custom kernel, or otherwise something 
not properly packaged, then all bets are off, and this rpm command is 
likely useless.  But if you stick to RH-issued kernel packages, then 
you should be able to get all the requisite information from the 
pacakge db.
