Interestingly, a search of the USPTO patent and trademark database
(http://www.uspto.gov/patft/) shows only two patents for SCO (none under SCO,
2 for "Santa Cruz Operation" -

no 6,362,836 - Universal application server for providing applications on a variety of client devices in a client/server network

no 6,104,392 Method of displaying an application on a variety of client devices in a client/server network

Searches for Caldera shows 1 patent -

no 6,529,784 Method and apparatus for monitoring computer systems and alerting users of actual or potential system errors

I'm not claiming to be the greatest at searching the database, but it sure
doesn't look like they've got a lot to license (aside from actual Unix code,
most of which can be done with BSD or Linux).
