The PERC 3/Di is based on an Adaptec RAID controller, and needs the
"aacraid" device driver. While I think RHL 7.2 does include aacraid, it may
be that the PCI ID of the controller embedded in the 2650 is newer than the
driver in RHL 7.2, which would keep the driver from finding it.

First, try switching to a virtual console with a shell prompt and doing
"insmod aacraid". Usually that won't work, but it is worth a shot.

Assuming that does not work, you (or rather, your associate) will need a
"driver disk" with an updated "aacraid" driver on it. Basically, a Red Hat
driver disk is just a floppy with a collection of modules for various kernel
releases.

First, try going to <http://support.dell.com>. Enter the Service Tag, go
to "Downloads", pick "Linux" as the OS and "RAID" for the type of file. If
you're lucky, Dell has a Red Hat driver diskette image available for
download.

If that doesn't pan out, try <http://domsch.com/linux>. Matt Domsch is
Linux Guru Numero Uno at Dell. He maintains the "aacraid" and "megaraid"
drivers, among other things. There is a ton of good stuff on his site.

Failing that, you can try <http://www.dell.com/linux> and
<http://lists.us.dell.com> for assorted random links, documents, and FAQs.

If you're still stuck, you can subscribe to the <poweredge-linux> mailing
list (at <http://lists.us.dell.com>). In fact, you might want to do that
even if you get unstuck. There are a lot of good people there, including
quite a few Dell people. Good stuff.

  Hope this helps!
