Just to really make your day, one can encounter a 2 GB limit in:
- The filesystem you're using
- The kernel VFS layer
- The kernel driver for the filesystem you're using
- The C library
- Userland utilities (like "cp")
- Network protocols (like "NFS" or "SMB" or "AppleShare")
- Implementations of said protocols (like "Samba" or "Netatalk")
Find exactly which limit(s) you are hitting can be tedious.
