I've looked into it. Not for a truck, but for a tractor.

The biggest problem I ran into was getting a system that would withstand
the rigors of -20 to +130 degree weather. I finally found a system that
I could afford, but its an imbedded type system and not as functional as
I wanted. (Read: Requires more electronics than I'm comfortable with.)
It also has to be programmed in Java.

But after getting some of those, I then ran into problems finding an LCD
display that would operate in a similar temperature range - but couldn't
find anything affordable. And as it turns out, MOST LCDs will be
destroyed when they get to 32 degrees F! (Not just won't operate, but
will never operate again!)
