This can be useful, but it can also be a pain.  In a lot of cases,
you're providing other services to those users too.  In such cases,
why maintain credentials in two places?  (There /are/ valid reasons,
but often the user will use the same username and password for
all their logins anyway, unless you force them not to, so it almost
doesn't matter...)
