[OT] Laptop screen messed up

FYI (I realize the problem went away), here is a useful thing to try for
any laptop hardware glitch: Remove all power sources. That means unplug the
line cord and remove all main batteries. For good measure, try holding down
the power button for a few seconds after you've done that. Then wait about
15 seconds, re-apply power, and see what happens.
Most of us have cleared hardware glitches on desktops and servers by doing
the old power-down-reboot cycle. It's important to remember that, with a
laptop, there is more then one power source. :-)
