Where to buy HP Refills

I have not had good experience(s) with refiills, but, it could be me.

I've always been under the presumption that printer cartridges are
like razor blades and video game cartridges. The printer is sold
at a loss. You then compensate the manufacturer for that loss
(and then overcompensate later on) for by buying new cartridges
from the same manufacturer who controls the price.
