This is basically what it comes down to. Even if you had an agreement, 
even if it was in writing, things change. For whatever reason they 
decided to block SSH access. You may never even find out the actual 
reason why. They could tell you it's security but for all you know it 
could be because people were abusing SSH access to sit around and post 
non-work related email on their home account remotely. And lets be 
realistic here, it is just SSH access to your home computer. There are 
companies that are cutting pay, having people take forced unpaid 
vacations, cutting promised bonuses. To me that's much more serious 
then SSH access to your home box.

Bottom line is that you're one employee, you don't pay for the computer 
you're using, you don't pay for the internet connection you're using. 
They can regulate it any way they see fit.
