I had the same problem with Outlook Express that I set up for my wife to
use IMAPS remotely to our home machine. I solved it by making the
certificate available (temporarily) via the web (I put the contents from
"BEGIN CERTIFICATE" through "END CERTIFICATE" inclusive in a file ending
in .crt on my Apache HTTP server). I pulled it up in Internet Explorer,
which ran me through some wizard to import the cert. Being Microsoft
software, I think I had to reboot to get the settings to take permanent
effect, but it successfully removed the prompt you are referring to.
