md5sum of RH9 (shrike) disk 1

I get the same md5sum value that you do :

The md5sum value for disc 1 is wrong, though I have no idea why. 
Perhaps RedHat released an updated iso image but never updated the
MD5SUM file ???

I would say that your iso image for disc 1 is good and ready to go.  

Is there a reason that you are installing RHL 9?  Why not install fedora
core 1 ( aka RHL 10 ) ?  Just a thought.
