But then again, they weren't intended to be.  People have this hangup over software
titles.  It boggles the mind.

You have a point.  But then again, for a long time (and perhaps even still),
industries such as the graphic arts have preferred certain platforms.  Apple catered
to the graphic arts industry and that industry stuck with Apple.  Apple paid
attention to what they needed and they got very loyal customers.  I don't believe
that any particular OS is or ever will be a drop in replacement for everything else
that exists.  Nor should it be.

In my case, my parents call me before listening to hold music.  I don't suspect my
experience is rare.
