I've tried seven different approaches over the last decade, and
the only one that holds its own for me in the face of the growing
onslaught is Spamassassin. I have an article on installing it at
http://www.stearns.org/doc/spamassassin-setup.current.html (the version
numbers are old, but the rest is still relevant).
