Well, sudo is an obvious option.

But there is another.  The pam_console PAM module makes it possible to
give users the ability to run commands as root, if they log into the
console (this can, and at least on Red Hat by default does include an
X session running on the local display).

You will probably need to tweak the configuration to make it work.
The man pages are, unfortunately, not very helpful I think, but the
pam documentation should be.
