Hi all,

This is completely off-topic, but I need some help raising money for a
charity bike ride I'm in.

Here's the scoop. After an entire summer of riding my bike rather than
commuting on the train, and even after getting hit by a car, I'm still
not tired of riding :) As a result, I've been talked into entering "The
Rodman Ride for Kids" (http://www.rodmanrideforkids.org/) with a couple
of other bikers at work.

So, why am I telling you all this? Well, because our team needs sponsors :)

This 100 mile bike ride will take place on Saturday, October 2nd and
will likely take my feeble legs all day to pedal it :) The ride benefits
a number of different charities, the one we're riding for is Mass
Mentoring Partnership:

Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) works to ensure the availability of
high quality mentoring programs to meet the needs of youth
statewide. Through technical assistance, advocacy, and public
awareness efforts, MMP seeks to expand mentoring and is a resource
for mentors, mentees, and mentoring initiatives. Since 1992, more
than 478 organizations and 3,000 mentors have received MMP training
and support. MMPs goal is for each community to have access to an
active and vibrant high-quality mentoring infrastructure to meet the
    needs of its youth.

Donations can be made out to 'Ride for Kids' and can be in any amount
you would be so kind to sponsor me with :)

Please send any donation to me at my home address by October 2, 2004.
If you don't have my address, please let me know :)

Or, if you prefer, you can donate online at:

  http://www.rodmanrideforkids.org/site/content/donate.asp

You can either choose to sponsor me directly, or our team. If you
choose the latter, our team name is the 'Permabit Wheelers'.

If a financial contribution is not possible at this time, then please at
least keep me in your thoughts that day as I attempt to pedal almost 3x
further than I've ever gone on a single bike ride :)

[ OBLinux: I need to hire a rather senior Linux/Unix sysadmin. Good
shell/perl skills a must, able to manage hundreds of linux systems
shouldn't scare you, and Kerberos, AFS, Mac OS X, and Windows knowledge
all very good things to have! ]

Thanks!

Seeya,
Paul

It may look like I'm just sitting here doing nothing,
but I'm really actively waiting for all my problems to go away.

If you're not having fun, you're not doing it right!
