two things I notice -

& is an invalid DNS character.   a-z,A-Z,0-9,- are valid.  My linux 
resolver does the lookup anyway.  My AppleMail link parser stops at the 
&.

hex unescaping is not supposed to be applied to the hostname part of a 
URI.  I actually did work through the BNF for a Mozilla bug once - 
Mozilla does it right, IE does it wrong.
