If my calculations are correct, that's only .75 amps at 120 v., which
seems rather low. Wouldn't just shutting the monitor off when not in
use be rather an effective means of saving electricity?
Is 90 watts a lot? If so, what did you switch to ? Was it something
you already owned, or did you go out and buy something? If you went
out an bought something, even if it requires less than .75 amps, how
long until you recoups the cost of that device with the amount of
electricity saved? Even if you only spent $100 on a more energy
efficient monitor, it seems like that $100 is far more than the amount
you could possibly save by just turning the monitor off when not in
use and not spending the $100 on a new monitor.
Of course, energy efficiency and power conversions aren't my strongest
skills, so I'm prepared to be enlightened and educated :)
