Stupid bash scripting question

That it is!  Of course, the same argument could be made about other
scripting languages as well.

Truth is that historically, I probably would have just written this in
python.  However, I know that "If I Knew What I Was Doing" (TM), I could
have written it in bash much more quickly.  That was a part of the
reason to do it this way is to try and become a little more familiar
with bash.

Using may not be pretty, but for simple things, it sure can be quick to
throw a script together (again, If I Knew What I Was Doing).  8)
