I recently looked into creating a MythTV box for HD, but unfortunately, there are no cable-ready receiver cards, so all you can do is receive and record OTA (over the air) HD broadcasts, so if you wanted to record say a Discovery HD program, you are SOL.  When WinTV or Hauppage etc come out with an HD card that can receive HD  cable programs, then that is when I will be dumping Comcast's DVR box and make my own PVR.
