FlashBlock and AdBlock are indeed wonderful FireFox extensions,
as are these:
"Nuke Anything"
"AniDisable"
"User Agent Switcher"
"CookieCuller"
"Bookmarks Synchronizer"
I have FlashBlock, AdBlock and AniDisable enabled pretty much
full-time. And since we're discussing browser hacks that rock,
I'm required to mention this:
http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/
...since bookmarklets definitely rock! My two current favorites
are just the plain old "zap" which gets rid of a nice assortment
of the most common idiocies, and "zap style sheets". It's
sometimes almost miraculous the way those two (used alone or in
combination) can transform some of the worst examples of frenetic,
confusing WWW idiocy into readable, straightforward content.
