To bring this more On-Topic, depending on your Linux 
distribution, the installation CD often contains a "rescue" 
option. (For example, Mandrake lets you restore a Windows boot 
sector.) I believe the Gentoo-based System Rescue CD 
(http://www.sysresccd.org/) which I use for other repair 
purposes can do this too, though I've never needed it to repair 
a blown Windows boot sector. System Rescue CD does have virtual 
floppy boot images so you could boot into FreeDOS from it, IIRC.
