That's a good reminder to check versions of code you depend on before 
you do something potentially destructive.  There's always room for a 
'-F' mode (the 'I really understand and mean to do this anyway' mode) 
for emergency situations.  The parted guys may not have expected kernel 
2.6 to change much, but certainly kernel 5.2 might treat partition 
tables differently.

(and yeah, I got burned by this bug myself).  Fortunately I was working 
on a dd-clone of the client's disks.
