Firefox installation problem: loading the extensions datasource

Hello all,

I have just installed the Firefox browser on to my Fedora Core 2 release and 
can only run the program as root. I get the message: "loading the extensions 
datasource" in the terminal window I execute the program from if I am not the 
root user. I installed Firefox as root into the /usr/local/bin directory. I 
opened up the permissions to 774 to see if that would help, but no go. Rather 
than continue and really screw things up, I thought I would ask the question 
here.

Any help would be appreciated.
