  They don't care.  Indeed, they want it that way.  Presario PCs are
as-cheap-as-possible junk desktops.  Their sole purpose is to keep money
from going to the Dells and Gateways of the world.  They don't want them to
work really well; that might take sales away from the DeskPro line. Compaq's
position is that if you care, you'll buy a DeskPro.

  In other words, as far as Compaq is concerned, Travis's PC is working as
designed.
