The support people work from cookbooks. There was a rumor that Compaq
would void the hardware warranty if you installed another OS (FALSE),
but the support people only speak the installed OS. Some repair people
at places like CompUSA were using that line because their tools were
Windows based.
BTW: most people I know who have IBM thinkpads like them. Additionally,
both IBM and HP have very strong Linux programs.
