This is halfway off-topic, but Python has been discussed from time to time
on this list. And it's Free software.
There have been a few meetings of people interested in Python in conjunction
with some of our LUG meetings (namely at CentraLUG, MonadLUG, and DLSLUG).
We've been hatching a plot for a more regular opportunity to get together,
and looking for a place where we could use a projector and have access to
the 'net. (And preferably have a purveyor of brews nearby, but that's
another story.)
At last it can be told: we DO have a place (two places, actually), and
the group has chosen a time.
The place: The group chose Manchester as a presumed "center of gravity".
Also, there's no LUG in Manchester (yet).
The time: fourth Thursday. (No LUG meetings the 4th week (yet)).
The first meeting has just been confirmed -- next Thursday is ON. Three
people have already promised to attend!
Anyone who's interested in Python is welcome, now and anytime. We plan to
invite students and practitioners from high tech, and of course anyone
interested in Linux is automatically welcome. (BTW, did you see the job
ads from Google recently? They want Linux heavies, and "Python a plus"
YES!! :)
A meeting agenda will be forthcoming, on Monday. In the meantime, if you'd
like to join us to talk about Python, mark your calendar!
