Samba problem? Macintosh (Panther) can't see Windows PCs

I'm not sure whether it is relevant in your case, but, I recently solved 
a problem with Macs connecting
to a Windows 2003 server due to SMB signing. I haven't verified whether 
SMB signing is the default
now for Windows XP. It is possible that some update may have enabled it 
on the XP boxes, or it
got disabled on the Mac.
