And the terms of the software license, which is what the code in question is
enforcing. And the development and support effort behind it (or so the theory
goes, anyway).
I don't understand why people get upset with Microsoft for doing things
this. You knew this going into it. How the fsck do people think Microsoft
achieved having forty billion dollars ($40,000,000,000) in cash-on-hand? If
you're gonna run payware, expect to pay, and pay, and keep right on paying.
That's the way this game is played, and everyone playing the same should know
the rules at this point.
Don't like that? Don't fscking use it. We got this nice thing called
Linux....

UltraVNC uses a Windows device driver to accelerate WinVNC performance.
You might check that out.
Ultimately, though, if you want to use MS-Windows for more then just "basic
home usage", one should budget for XP Pro. That's just one of the many costs
of using MS-Windows.
