The grep on the entire *.list set of files of /var/lib/dpkg/info would let
me search everything, but the -L switch is directly analogous using less on a
single *.list file.
The main reason I stick to using the subdir technique is that it allows me
not to remember another little-used switch, but which is now ingrained into
my neurons by your message. :-)
