   I would.  Under GNU/Linux, it *shouldn't* lose packages or file or have a 
lot of other issues that are common in the Windows world.  But it 
occasionally does have those issues.

   When something "weird" like that goes on, my preference is to delete a 
particular package -- and whatever libraries that are associated with it that 
I can identify -- and then to reinstall it.  Many prefer just to use apt-get 
with the "--reinstall" switch, but I prefer the two-step method.
