SATA does support hot swap as part of the spec. When I was at RAIDcore one
of the tests was to remove a disk from a RAID array to test how the card
handled it. If it was 1,0+1, 5, 10, 50 it just kept going. Then we'd plug it
back in & it'd add it back to the array.

This was generic SATA equipment, except for RAIDcore's card of course. We
even had the disks external to the system. It's hard to fit 10 disks inside
a PC case.
