  Well, if it's for "real work", Pogo, Penguin, or similar might be
worth it.  The first time he has a problem that needs vendor
assistance, the higher purchase cost will usually pay for itself in
decreased downtime and aggravation.

  If it's just another home PC or beat-on box that can go up in flames
and no one will much care, all the random vendors suggested by
everyone else and me will likely do.

  Curses!  You've uncovered my evil plot!  ;-)

  Actually, I don't have enough time.  It's just that I'm using this
list as an excuse to avoid researching Windoze Security Event Log
auditing for work.  If this list goes quiet for too long, I'll
probably have to consider scheduling a dentist appointment or tax
audit or something.  ;-)
