CentraLUG Meeting Monday 4-Apr-2006

A surprisingly small attendance - three - likely due to rain,  
LinuxWorld the next day, and other factors beyond our control. Sorry,  
David, for not getting more people out for an interesting presentation.

Bill Sconce and I enjoyed David Berube's presentation on converting  
various MSOffice documents to PDFs. David gave us a background on the  
needs of the application (many users, many locations, many skill  
levels), their needs (sharing portfolios of mixed documents) and  
David's solution (a PHP front end to numerous tools to convert MS  
Word, Excel and PDF documents into merged PDFs). David gave us pocket  
reviews of the various utilities (GNU's A2PS, other's HTML2PS,  
PS2PDF, antiword, unexcel and others). He also passed around reprints  
of his March 2006 article in International PHP Magazine (http:// 
www.php-mag.net/).

In addition, there was the usual slew of announcements and some time  
for Q&A: LinuxWorld, hosting solutions, distributions. We also  
planned the next two meetings:

May 1st: What We Saw @ LinuxWorld: panel discussion by GNHLUG members
June 5th: Staying Informed: Members bring in magazines, present,  
compare & contrast
