    Yes, I had YaST do its hardware search then save the results in a 
file.  The file had "3Com.3C920" buried in a long string of other 
device names, but it never showed up in the GUI listing of the results.

    dmesg | grep -i showed nothing for warn or error.  But, boot.msg did 
say "eth-id-00:06:07:00:1b:67 No interface found".

    I checked the installed software.  All the network stuff appears to 
be installed.  I will check some more.  I have to shut down to see if 
the networking has to be enabled in BIOS.  I don't remember that being 
so, but...
