From Texas to New Hampshire

I had some of the information reversed. Michigan has the highest unemployment rate (sadly).

There are quite a few graduates from Michigan State who stay in the area and competition is high. I remember one situation in particular. I was in charge of hiring a Support Analyst (level 1) for somewhere around $8/hr. There where a number of extremely overqualified candidates and we ended up choosing only a few of the applicants for interviews. I miss living there, however Michigan is just above Mississippi for the second highest unemployment rate in the country (http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/state_unemployment/index.html). I have friends who are as qualified as I am and make no more than $15/hr. Although that surely doesn't apply to everyone, it makes it more difficult to find a job that matches cost of living.

There are a lot of great things to do in Michigan, from the lakes to the mammoth National/State parks. It's too bad about the crime and economic factors in the metropolitan areas, otherwise I'd consider moving back. Then again... if it hadn't been that way, I would not have moved in the first place.
