DVD Burners

Hello, all.

I hate to throw another hardware recommendation question out there, but... :-)

I have checked the HW Compatability HowTo and it is pretty hopeful.
"Most, if not all, ATAPI and SCSI DVD-ROM and writable DVD drives are
supported." Assuming that's correct ( and now days I think it's
probably a pretty safe assumption ), I am wondering if anyone has any
direct experience with HP DVD burners.

The specific one I'm lookin at is thier 16x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW/CD-RW
drive. They have both Internal and External ( USB 2 ) versions. The
Internal version is a bit cheaper of course, and probably runs faster,
but I really like the idea of being able to swap it between my home
machine ( SUSE 9.3 ) and Laptop ( SUSE 9.3 / W2K dual boot ).

As a side note, this drive comes with LightScribe which apparently
allows the writting of lables directly on special media in the drive.
I would be amazed if that works w/ Linux. It's not really a major
selling point for me but if I did go w/ the External version then I
could at least access that function via my Windoze boot.

So...any feedback on HP DVD burners or at least HP burner drives in general?

advTHANKSance!
-Lawrence
