There were. Once Microsoft realized they had posted them for free use  
by anyone, they took the site down. Too late, of course. An installer  
is available from:

http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/

You may also want to check with your package installer to see what it  
finds for "core fonts" or "TrueType" A Google search of  "linux  
windows truetype font installer" yields a manageable half million  
hits...
